BAND for LIFE - A musical community in which everyone has a part to play
Band for Life is based on the therapeutic effects of music and on the belief that music brings people together; regardless of age, health, background, social situation, gender and ethnicity. The Project strives to create a culture of welcoming and openness through playing and sharing music together.
Based in Bow, London E3, the project is open to all members of the local community, particularly those experiencing mental health problems and who are socially isolated. We aim both to understand and support people’s issues whilst focusing on what people can do and achieve, viewing people holistically rather than diagnostically. There is a weekly Band session, on Fridays from 1.45 - 4pm. It is a drop-in, open to anyone who wants to join in, listen, or just have a cup of tea and some company. Anyone over 18 is welcome; the current age range is 35-85.
You don’t have to be musically skilled to benefit from participating in the project, but equally if you have a musical talent, we will welcome you!
The project meets Fridays 1.45 – 4pm at
